WELCOME. . . Bitterroot Appaloosas is located in Western
Montana nestled between the Bitterroot and Sapphire Mountains
in Florence, 25 miles south of Missoula, Montana. This lovely Ranch
is on the banks of the Bitterroot River in the beautiful Bitterroot
Valley. Here we grow our own alfalfa, grass hay and Happy Horses. |

We specialize in the Appaloosa and have developed a tremendous affection for this wonderful, most-often colorful, versatile breed. We have a small, select band of broodmares. It gives us many hours of pleasure carefully selecting just the right stallions for our mares; nurturing them with proper care and nutrition while they are in foal; then tenderly imprinting the babies from birth to encourage a gentle, loving and good-natured youngster. We are interested only in sending them off to loving homes where their potential may be fulfilled racing, sport, performance, halter, cutting, reining . . . whatever. Owners, Mike and Dawn House have been involved with Appaloosas for 30-plus years in all aspects, while the idea to breed was born more recently. The resident managers, Chip and Nancy Gollehon are native Montanans, born and raised around horses and cattle, and they share the same love of the breed.
